WAIS Wechsler,
David(1896–1981), American psychologist. Wechsler enjoyed a long association with New York City's Bellevue Hospital, serving as chief psychologist from 1932 to 1967. He is known as the inventorof several widely used intelligence tests for adults and children, including the Wechsler-Bellevue Intelligence Scale (1939), the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (1949), and the Wechsler AdultIntelligence Scale (1955).
