witloof

The Witloof, a form of Chicory, is used as a salad, or boiled and served in the same manner as Cauliflower.

One packet of seed of the Witloof will furnish plants enough for a large family.

Under this covering the leaves will be formed in a solid head, which is known on the market as witloof.

Seed is sold under name of Witloof chicory, and should be sown in open ground, during May or June, in rows a foot apart.
