Origin:
1665–75; appar. orig. a pl. of dial. (Cornwall) wrah, wraugh, wrath < Cornish wragh, lenited form of gwragh lit., old woman, hag; cf. Welsh gwrach(en), Breton gwrac’h, also with both senses
