Dubrovnik [(dooh-brawv-nik, doo-brawv-nik)]

City in southern Croatia on the Adriatic Sea.

Note: Retaining much of its medieval architecture and character, the city was a popular tourist center before it was badly damaged in 1991 during the civil war between the Croats and the Serbs.
