Where can I find a list of compound words?

There are too many compound words in existence for a list to exist. There are fixed compound words in dictionaries, but collocations - words that are often found in speech and writing together - are not given dictionary entries. The meanings of collocations are easily determined by finding out the meanings of the individual parts, e.g., baby powder is 'powder generally used to soothe babies' skin'. Compound words usually have a special meaning, which is why they are defined in dictionaries, e.g., ice cream. A word that consists either of two or more elements that are independent words, such as happy hour, high school, housesit, is a compound. Two combining forms may also make a compound word, like philosophy, from philo- and sophia.
