acetabulum ac·e·tab·u·lum (ās'ĭ-tāb'yə-ləm)
n. pl. ac·e·tab·u·la (-lə)
The cup-shaped cavity at the base of the hipbone into which the ball-shaped head of the femur fits. Also called cotyloid cavity.
