atrioventricular canal cushion n.
Either of a pair of mounds of embryonic connective tissue covered by endothelium, bulging dorsally and ventrally into the embryonic atrioventricular canal, eventually growing together and dividing the canal into right and left atria. Also called endocardial cushion.
