sporogenesis   (spôr'ə-jěn'ĭ-sĭs)  Pronunciation Key 
The formation or production of spores. Sporogenesis may result from mitosis or meiosis. Plant spores result from meiosis, whereas fungal spores may result from either mitosis or meiosis depending on the species.
