Multan

Now a new fiscal system was to be introduced there to settle up the arrears of Viceroy Mulraj of Multan.

General Whish captured the town of Multan, and by terrible bombardment of the citadel brought Mulraj to surrender.

Vigne visited it in 1836, having reached it from Multan with a caravan of Lohani merchants, travelling by the Gomal pass.

But in doing so he had really no alternative—had they not remained faithful, Multan must have been lost to us.

Had he not shown such undaunted courage and coolness, or had there been the smallest hesitation, Multan would certainly have gone.
