Piranesi

Hamilton was aided in his work by Piranesi whose engravings record the state of the ruins at this time.

The walls were covered with views of ancient Rome and engravings by Piranesi.

Piranesi gives a number of additional chambers besides the two above mentioned, but his representation is probably conjectural.
