Scutari

It was the day on which we crossed the p. 165Bosphorus by steamer to visit Scutari on the Asiatic shore.

It was a huge quadrangular building, like the barracks at Scutari, with a courtyard in the centre.

On the return of the Generals arrangements for moving from Scutari were pushed forward with great vigour.

In the wretchedly organized lazarets at Scutari the sick and wounded died by scores for lack of proper medical attendance.

In the background is seen the city of Scutari, on the Asiatic side of the Bosphorus.
