Part of this was done by act of Congress, but the greater part came from the arbitrary and illegal Cortelyou order.

There is probably here some confusion between the original grant to van Werckhoven and subsequent regrants to Cortelyou.

Jacques Cortelyou and his associates had a large grant of land at Aquackanonck (Passaic).
