vidrio, noun:
glass; window pane
Like many other Spanish words, vidrio covers concepts which in English are related but are expressed by different words, in this case: glass and window pane.
If you’re talking about something being made of glass, or about the substance in general, you use vidrio.

modern buildings of glass, steel and concrete
A window pane in a house or other building is also un vidrio.
Los chicos rompieron el vidrio.
The children broke the window pane.
