Spanish Word of the Day Archive
Wednesday December 16, 2009
to deliver; to hand in; to present
Snailmail is less common these days, but if it’s delivered the Spanish verb to use is entregar:
El paquete fue entregado ayer.
The parcel was delivered yesterday.
Entregué la carta personalmente.
I delivered the letter by hand.
You use it in another meaning to refer to handing work in:
Tengo que entregar la tesina mañana.
I’ve got to hand in my dissertation tomorrow.
You also use it to talk about presenting prizes:
El rey mismo le entregó el premio.
The King himself presented him with the prize.
