moreno, adjective:
dark; tanned
Moreno is one of those Spanish words like tranquilo, which mean one thing when used with ser, and another when used with estar. With ser it has two meanings, referring to someone with dark hair or dark skin.
Es moreno.
He has dark hair.
Es moreno.
He is dark.
When you use it with the verb estar it refers to being tanned:
Aunque ya está muy morena, pasa largos ratos al sol.
Even though she’s already very tanned, she spends a lot of time in the sun.
