preparado, adjective:
ready, prepared

Preparado is a word you can use instead of listo to describe someone or something that’s ready:

Todo esta preparado para la última noche del 2007.
Everything’s ready for the last night of 2007.

Me dio muchos consejos sobre cómo estar preparado mentalmente para el campeonato.
He gave me lots of advice on how to be mentally prepared for the championship.

You also use it when talking about food:

La comida ya está preparada.
The food’s ready to serve.

In a rather different meaning, preparado refers to how well educated or qualified somebody is:

Está muy bien preparado para este trabajo.
He’s very well qualified for this job.
