iron

If you want to look smart when you’re going out, una plancha is something you’ll need. You often use it in the phrase pasar la plancha a, to run the iron over:

pasándole por encima una plancha caliente
running a hot iron over it

Plancha also refers to the action of ironing:

No necesita plancha.
It doesn’t need ironing.

And to the ironing, meaning the clothes you’ve put aside to be ironed.
