cielo, noun:
sky; heaven

El cielo does double duty to cover the concept both of sky and of heaven.

No había ni una nube en el cielo.
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky.

Notice the phrase un cielo despejado a clear sky, a cloudless sky.
Cielo also refers to the religious idea of heaven. Notice the use of al in the next phrase:

ir al cielo
to go to heaven

Se ha ido al cielo a la edad de 6 años.
She’s gone to heaven at the age of 6.
