The ‘false friend’ that we will be looking at today is campo. Be careful not to use campo as a translation for camp, except in the expression concentration camp - campo de concentración.
The main meanings of the Spanish word campo are country, countryside and field.

Prefiero vivir en el campo.
I prefer living in the country.

El campo se pone verde en primavera.
The countryside turns green in springtime.

a field of wheat

Sometimes the word is used figuratively:

Es un experto en su campo.
He’s an expert in his field.
