Erotomania (satyriasis and nymphomania), or abnormal exaltation of the sexual appetite.

In Spain and Italy, religious melancholy, and that most vexatious species of insanity called erotomania, are the more common.

Ulrich von Lichtenstein, in the thirteenth century, is the typical example of this chivalrous erotomania.
