In the violent southerly hurricanes prevalent in Adelie Land, the spray breaks right over them.

The regularity of the high-velocity winds was already recognized as one of the most remarkable features of Adelie Land.

From the outset, there was little chance of that being the case in wind-scoured Adelie Land.

In Adelie Land, we were destined to find, it was hard to number more than a dozen or two in the year.

It was a splendid sight to watch the birds sailing in the high winds of Adelie Land.
