The three-toed sloth (Bradypus) has three digits in the fore-limb, the two-toed sloth (Cholpus) only two.

Here I had a fine opportunity once more of examining the three-toed sloth.

The three-toed sloth has nine cervical vertebræ; the manati only six; but seven is the typical number.

(c) The combination of the two accessory functions just described in the same stomach is found in the three-toed sloth (Fig. 95).

You see there the ai, or three-toed sloth (the Bradypus torquatus).
