On February 4, Bem was defeated on the site of his former victory at Hermannstadt.

Bem barely succeeded in saving the remnant of his army by crossing the Moldavian frontier.

When Georgey capitulated, he had one hundred and thirty-eight guns, besides those in the hands of Kossuth and Bem.
