Hemingway, Ernest

  1. A twentieth-century American author; one of the lost generation of Americans living in Paris during the 1920s. In such books as A Farewell to Arms, The Sun Also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls , and The Old Man and the Sea , he glorified heroic male exploits, such as bullfighting, boxing, and safari hunting. Hemingway is known for his simple, short sentences and his lively dialogue.
