Fort Duquesne

No one believed that Fort Duquesne, far away in the forests beyond the mountains, could hold out against this formidable array.

The most westerly fort in Virginia was fifty miles further west than Fort Duquesne.

For before Fort Duquesne was reached it was decided not to attempt to continue the campaign further.

The remainder at Fort Duquesne were glad now to hurry away into their winter quarters in their distant homelands.

In a few hours three prisoners were brought into camp who reported the true condition of affairs at Fort Duquesne.
