"The petulancy of our words." --B. Jonson. Like pride in some, and like petulance in others. --Clarendon. The lowering eye, the petulance, the frown. --Cowper. Syn: Petulance, Peevishness. -- Peevishness implies the permanence of a sour, fretful temper; petulance implies temporary or capricious irritation.
