Ro*chelle"\, n. A seaport town in France. Rochelle powders. Same as Seidlitz powders. Rochelle salt (Chem.), the double tartrate of sodium and potassium, a white crystalline substance. It has a cooling, saline, slightly bitter taste and is employed as a mild purgative.
