any of a series of skirmishes or wars between the Sioux Indians and settlers or the U.S. Army from 1854 to 1890.

The Sioux War was over, and during our stay in their country we had no more serious trouble with them.

Both these causes entered into the awful Sioux War in Minnesota in 1862.
