a physical diagnostic technique used to detect solid objects surrounded by fluid, as abdominal organs or tumors, performed by suddenly compressing the fluid with the hand, causing the solid object to abut against the hand.

Ballottement is always a great word to know.
So is pollex. Does it mean:
the first or innermost digit of the foot of humans and other primates or of the hind foot of other mammals; great toe; big toe.
the innermost digit of the forelimb; thumb.
