It is undulating poor land of a sandstone formation, grassed with triodia and wooded with ironbark and bloodwood.
The range was of red soil, timbered with bloodwood, and stringy-bark.
On the open grounds the bloodwood, Moreton Bay ash, and a strong growing acacia are the principal trees.
Ironbark, box, bloodwood, and Moreton-Bay ash formed the principal trees with which the country was openly timbered.
First we hunted the neighbouring hills without success, and then crossed on to the bloodwood flat which had appeared like a creek.
It was wooded with broad-leaved box, broad-leaved ironbark, Moreton Bay ash, bloodwood and cypress pine.
Amongst these I observed broad-leaved ironbark and broad-leaved box, bloodwood, currajong, and bottle-trees.
Some patches of stiffer soil were covered with box or with straggling apple-gum and bloodwood.
Occasional clumps of mulga break the even line of the horizon, and, in the valleys, thickets or belts of bloodwood are seen.
