Châ·teau-Thier·ry   (shä-tō-tyě-rē')   
A town of northern France on the Marne River east-northeast of Paris. It was the site of the second Battle of the Marne (June 3-4, 1918), which ended the last major German offensive in World War I. Population: 14,967.
