Externally the structure is completely cased in late Spanish Renaissance or Churrigueresque work.

The influence of Churriguera, who evolved the Churrigueresque style, is to be met with in almost every Cathedral in the country.

For me a Churrigueresque building is the ne plus ultra of bad taste in architecture, and Spain has a wealth of them.

The whole thing was in the worst possible taste, on a level with the bad Churrigueresque architecture of the same period.
