Coldstream
small burgh (town) in the Scottish Borders council area, historic county of Berwickshire, Scotland. It is situated at a fording place on the River Tweed on the border with England. Flodden, a battlefield (1513) where the Scots were badly defeated by the English, lies 6 miles (10 km) southeast, in England. Coldstream is associated with the famous British Coldstream Guards regiment; first raised there about 1650, the Coldstream Guards marched to London in 1660 and played a significant part in the restoration of Charles II. Pop. (2001) 1,813.
