She told them Cooley, the tough-talking former Los Angeles County District Attorney, was losing percentage points by the hour.
“He starts trying to give the judge papers, but he refuses to address her as ‘judge,’” Cooley told The Daily Beast.
Cooley has decided not to seek a fourth term as D.A. and will be leaving office after the November election.
Before long, the judge asked the bailiff to remove him, Cooley said.
Cooley will show up well next year, and would, no doubt, have done better if the conditions had been more favorable.
Cooley says of them, "They are so utterly untrue, that they have not their parallel in any language."
You and Cooley's boy seem to have a fondness for that particular kind of adventure.
"He played a mighty good game on the steamer," said Cooley warmly.
Physicians in Cooley's employ gave corroborative evidence, with some modifications.
"Perhaps he won't want us to try," young Cooley pursued derisively.
