  1. also (kôr'dō-vä) A city of north-central Argentina northwest of Buenos Aires. It was founded in 1573. Population: 1,260,000.

  2. also (kôr'thō-vä) A city of southern Spain on the Guadalquivir River east-northeast of Seville. Probably established by Carthaginians, it was later ruled by Romans and Visigoths. Under the Moors (711-1236) it was renowned as a cultural and intellectual center. Population: 324,000.
