Damascenus

The first place we came to was the Ager Damascenus, a long, beautiful meadow, just without the city on the west side.

The work was afterwards attributed to Johannes Damascenus, who died in 760.

Johannes Damascenus was also an Arabian physician, but of a much earlier date (probably of the ninth century).

It was already known in the seventh century, and the first who mentions it is S. John Damascenus.
