the act or process of de-emphasizing.

Electronics. a process of reducing the relative amplitude of certain frequencies in a signal that have been exaggerated by preemphasis, restoring the signal to its original form.

De-emphasis is always a great word to know.
So is root mean square. Does it mean:
voltage that reverses direction in regular cycles
square root of arithmetic mean of squares of the numbers in given set of numbers
