Des Plaines

It is in a picturesque farming country, and there are good limestone quarries in the valley of the Des Plaines river.

At the point where the deep cut reaches the Des Plaines, it is ten feet lower than the bottom of the river.

I searched for, and found, the fossil tree, reported to lie in the rocks in the bed of the river Des Plaines.
