floral envelope

Perianth, per′i-anth, n. the floral envelope where the calyx and corolla are not easily distinguished.

The corolla is the more or less coloured attractive inner floral envelope; generally the most conspicuous whorl.

Certain essential organs of the flower are within the so-called floral envelope.

On opening the pointed spathe or floral envelope, a club-like mass will be noted arising from its base.

To cut the knot, and please all parties, our beautiful floral envelope has been denominated a petaloid perianth.
