Herophilus

Herodotus was a great teacher and writer; also Herophilus, his pupil.

Herophilus first made diagnosis by the pulse, upon which he wrote a book.

These earliest of really scientific investigators of the mechanism of the human body were named Herophilus and Erasistratus.

Herophilus operated upon the liver and spleen, and looked upon the latter as of little consequence in the animal economy.

Two great names of that school, Herophilus and Erasistratus, we must consider elsewhere.
