The valley towns on Hiwassee, as well as those of Chickamauga, seem to have continued hostile.

The various settlements on Valley river and the adjacent part of Hiwassee were known collectively as the “Valley towns.”

A settlement called Cannostee or Cannastion is mentioned as existing on Hiwassee river in 1776.
