a tall fern, Osmunda claytoniana, of eastern North America and eastern Asia, having an interruption of growth in the center of some fronds.

The Interrupted Fern makes its appearance in the woods and meadows and along the roadsides in May.

These tufts we do not find in the Interrupted Fern, though both plants come into the world warmly wrapped in wool.

Like the other Osmundas, the Interrupted Fern is easily cultivated.
