a combination of -ite1. and -ic, used to form adjectives from nouns ending in -ite:, Semitic.

Origin:
< Latin -iticus < Greek -itikos, equivalent to -it(ēs) -ite1 + -ikos -ic; in some words representing French -itique < Latin < Greek, as above
