Jai·pur   (jī'pŏŏr')   
A city of northwest India south-southwest of Delhi. The center of a former state established in the 12th century, Jaipur was founded in 1728 and is noted for its walls and fortifications and the pink color of many of its houses. Population: 2,320,000.
