Pershing, John

  1. A military leader of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In 1916, General Pershing commanded the United States troops that pursued the Mexican revolutionary leader Pancho Villa into Mexico . In 1917, he was made commander of the United States troops sent to Europe to fight in World War I .
