Lachish

The comb was unearthed in 2016 among the ruins of the ancient city of Lachish in present-day Israel.

Apart from the tablets found at Lachish and Taanach, several were unearthed at Jericho, uninscribed and ready for use.

With this agrees the connection in which it is named (1:13-15); for Lachish, Mareshah, and Adullam also lay in that direction.

We hear of another governor of Lachish, Yabni-el by name, but he probably held office before Zimrida.

Zimrida of Lachish must be distinguished from another Canaanite of the same name who was governor of Sidon.

But they pursued him thither, and even Lachish would not protect him.
