Noddite: a strip sporting-rifle powder containing nitroglycerine, nitrocellulose, mineral jelly.

Ballistite: equal parts of nitroglycerine and soluble nitrocotton with some mineral jelly.

Nobel's invention, "cordite," is composed of nitroglycerin and nitrocellulose with a little mineral jelly or vaseline.

Some mineral jelly is added to render the explosive more stable.

It may also contain calcium and magnesium carbonate and mineral jelly.
