Johnnes asked Stafford if he could clear some wines for him to bring in for the restaurant Montrachet.

His family has been making wine in Puligny-Montrachet for 18 generations.

The vines at Olivier Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet grow quickly during the first weeks of July, up to 12 inches in 24 hours.

Olivier likes to say that Puligny-Montrachet is one of the last villages where there are no tourists, only wine lovers.

But there are times when Montrachet is better than the wine of Bordeaux.

As a striking example of these effects, we may adduce the slopes of the hills which grow the wines of Montrachet.
