Its main thoroughfare is the wide avenue de Charles de Gaulle, which is a prolongation of the Champs-Elysees and of the avenue de la Grande Armee. The 18th-century Pont de Neuilly, which bridges the avenue over the Seine River at the suburb's western border, is regarded as an outstanding piece of engineering; it was rebuilt and widened to 115 feet (35 metres) in 1935-40.
