In the Awatobi collections there are several small disks made apparently of pipe clay, which also were probably used as ornaments.
It can be used as fire and pipe clay, or for white-ware, and also meets the requirements of paper-makers.
The pipe clay contains leaves of trees, sometimes beautifully preserved.
Then take a perfectly clean piece of India rubber and rub off the pipe clay.
Use equal parts of boiled oil, white lead, pipe clay and black oxide of manganese, and form it into a paste.
